NEWPORT, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team placed fifth at the 2011 Grass Court Doubles Tournament held at the Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Curry College, in only its second year competing at the tournament, captured the team championship. The Colonels finished tied with the College of the Holy Cross with 12 points apiece, but Curry earned the title by virtue of its 2-0 head-to-head record against the Crusaders at the grass court event. Emmanuel College finished third with 10 points.

Bridgewater earned three wins in the event with the doubles tandems of Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) and Ashley Pereira (Assonet, Mass.), Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Michele Anastas (Hudson, Mass.), and Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) and Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, Mass.) each picking up a win apiece at the Flight A, Flight B and Flight C draws respectively.
