Women's Tennis Posts 9-0 Little East Win over Western Connecticut

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team coasted to a 9-0 Little East Conference win over visiting Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts in Bridgewater.

The host Bears remain unbeaten as they are now 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Little East.  Western Connecticut slips to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Bridgewater swept all three doubles matches and all six singles flights to come away with the win.

BSU sophomore Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.), senior Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, Mass.), juniors Julie Kraby (Wrentham, Mass.) and Ashley Pereira (Assonet, Mass.), and freshmen Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) and Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, Mass.) all won in straight sets during singles play from the first to the sixth flights respectively.

In doubles competition, Williamson and Pereira teamed for an 8-3 victory at first doubles, while Murphy and Kraby posted an 8-4 win at the second flight.  The rookie pairing of Eramo and Flynn breezed to an 8-2 decision at number three.

Bridgewater will host non-conference foe Roger Williams University tomorrow afternoon at 3:30, while Western Connecticut travels to SUNY-New Paltz for a 3:30 match on Friday.
