Women's Tennis Falls to TCNJ in NCAA Tournament, 5-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Lions blanked the Bears of Bridgewater State University, 5-0, in a first round match of the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament on Friday morning on the campus of Williams College.

TCNJ won all three doubles in convincing fashion with scores of 8-2, 8-1 and 8-2 at the first, second and third flights respectively.

Karisse Bendijo (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) defeated Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, Mass.) in straight sets at number one singles, 6-0, 6-0 to secure the fourth point of the match for the Lions.  Felice Trinh (Linden, N.J.) then won at second singles in straight sets over the Bears' Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, Mass.), 6-2, 6-0, to win the match.

TCNJ (15-2) will advance to the second round and will take on the Bowdoin College Polar Bears (12-6) tomorrow morning at 8:00 at Williams..

With the loss Bridgewater ends the season with a record of 14-2.  The Bears, champions of the Little East Conference, were competing in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last four years.
