Women's Tennis Downs Curry, 7-2

MILTON, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's tennis team improved to 11-1 with a 7-2 non-conference win over Curry College on Wednesday afternoon in Milton.

Bridgewater swept all three doubles matches and captured four of the six singles flights to secure the victory over the Colonels (9-8).

Senior Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, Mass.) posted a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at second flight singles and teamed with classmate Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, Mass.) for a tough 9-8 triumph at number one doubles.

Sophomore Julie Kraby (Wrentham, Mass.) and junior Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, Mass.) also won a close match at second flight doubles, 9-8, while freshman Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) and sophomore Lauren Hopp (Dartmouth, Mass.) posted an 8-3 decision at number three.

Williamson, Murphy and Hopp also won in straight sets in singles play at the third, fifth and sixth flights respectively.  Both Williamson (11-1) and Murphy (10-2) have won nine consecutive singles matches.

The Bears wrap up the regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon (1:00 PM) as they travel to Salem State University for a key Little East Conference match with the Vikings.
