BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team downed visiting Plymouth State University, 8-1, in Little East Conference action on Monday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts in Bridgewater.

The host Bears swept all three doubles matches and captured five of the six singles flights to secure the win. Bridgewater improves to 10-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Little East standings, while Plymouth dips to 6-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Senior Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, Mass.) highlighted the match for Bridgewater as she teamed with classmate Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, Mass.) for an 8-6 win at first doubles and posted a 6-2, 6-1 straight set victory at first flight singles.

Also winning in singles play for the Bears were freshman Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.), sophomore Julie Kraby (Wrentham, Mass.), junior Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and sophomore Lauren Hopp (Dartmouth, Mass.) at the third, fourth, fifth and sixth flights respectively.  Kraby battled back from a set down in her match to win 1-6, 6-3, 10-5.

Kraby and Murphy paired up for an 8-5 decision at number two doubles, while Williamson and Hopp posted an 8-3 triumph at the third spot.

Junior Laura Donovan (Acton, Mass.) picked up the lone point for Plymouth State at number two singles as she won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

Bridgewater will travel to Curry College on Wednesday afternoon (3:00 PM) for a non-conference match with the Colonels.  The Bears then travel to Salem State University on Saturday (1:00 PM) for a key Little East match with the Vikings.  A win over Salem would assure the Bears of at least a tie for the conference regular season title.

Plymouth heads to Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday afternoon to take on the Chargers at 3:30 PM.
