Women's Tennis Remains Unbeaten with 8-1 Little East Win over RIC

Providence, RI-Senior Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, MA) won in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1 singles and paired with classmate Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, MA) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles as the Bridgewater State University women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win at Rhode Island College.

BSU stays undefeated on the season with an 8-0 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the Little East Conference. RIC continues to struggle as it falls to 0-10 overall and 0-5 in league action.

The Bears swept all three doubles matches before taking five of six in singles action. Freshman Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, MA) did not lose a game (6-0, 6-0) at No. 3 singles, a result that was equaled by sophomore Julie Kraby (Wrentham, MA) a spot below in the order. The duo combined for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles as well.

RIC sophomore Doris Belanger (West Warwick, RI) needed three sets (6-3, 0-6, 10-5) to pick up the host's lone victory at No. 2 singles.

In upcoming action, Bridgewater State will host Western Connecticut, while RIC hosts UMass Boston, on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
