Women's Tennis Edges Suffolk, 5-4

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team swept the doubles matches and picked up a pair of singles victories as the visiting Bears defeated Suffolk University, 5-4, on Tuesday evening at Belmont High School.

The Bears remain unbeaten on the season as they improve to 3-0.  Suffolk falls to 0-2 even though the Rams managed to take four of the six singles matches.

Sophomore Julie Kraby (Wrentham, Mass.) highlighted the win for Bridgewater as she teamed with junior Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, Mass.) for an 8-5 triumph at second flight doubles.  Kraby also came back from a set down to earn a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at number four singles.

Freshman Alison Joseph (Dartmouth, Mass.) made her collegiate debut a memorable one as she posted a straight set win at number six singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Bridgewater also received doubles victories from seniors Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, Mass.) and Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, Mass.) at the first flight, and freshman Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) and sophomore Ashley Pereira (Assonet, Mass.) at number three.

Bridgewater will travel to the University of Southern Maine on Saturday as the Bears open Little East Conference play against the Huskies.  Match time is slated for 1:00 PM.
