Women's Tennis Remains Unbeaten with 9-0 Win

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Bridgewater State College women's tennis team continued their dominant play as the Bears remained undefeated on the season with a 9-0 victory over UMass Boston this afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts in Bridgewater.

The Bears (8-0) were led by junior Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, MA) who posted a 6-3, 6-1 straight set win in the first singles flight.  Donnelly also teamed with classmate Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, MA) for a tough 9-7 win over UMass Boston's top doubles team of freshman Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, MA) and junior Carolina Gonzalez (Bridgewater, MA).

Francis, junior Rachel Elam (Rehoboth, MA), seniors Catarina Rosa (Fall River, MA) and Paulina Ucher (Webster, MA) and sophomore Julie Kraby (Wrentham, MA) also posted straight set wins in their respective singles flights.

Elman and Ucher paired up for an 8-0 win at second doubles, while Rosa and Kraby teamed for an 8-2 victory at the third flight.

The Bears will try and keep their perfect season alive when Rhode Island College comes to Bridgewater on Saturday, October 3rd for a noontime match. UMass Boston will try and rebound from their loss when they travel to Pine Manor College on Thursday, October 1st (3:00 PM).
