PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Bridgewater State College posted victories in all three doubles matches Friday afternoon and went on to defeat Plymouth State University, 6-3, in a Little East Conference women's tennis match at the P.E. Center Courts.

The teams split the singles matches but the doubles outcomes were enough to give the Bears the win.  BSC, the 2007 LEC champions and last year's runner-up, improves to 3-0 overall this season and 1-0 in conference play.  PSU, the 2006 LEC champion, falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the LEC.  BSC defeated PSU last season, 9-0.

Junior Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, MA) and senior Catarina Rosa (Fall River, MA) were double-winners for BSC.  Francis teamed with junior Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, MA) for a win at No. 1 doubles and followed with a victory at No. 5 singles, and Rosa won her No. 3 singles match after teaming up with sophomore Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, MA) to claim the No. 3 doubles match.  Sophomore Julie Kraby (Wrentham, MA) also won for the Bears at No. 6 singles, and the tandem of junior Rachel Elman (Rehoboth, MA) and senior Paulina Ucher (Webster, MA) earned the win at No. 2 doubles.

PSU won singles matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4.  Freshman Sarah Burke (Barrington, RI) improved her record to 3-0 on the season with a victory at No. 1 singles; and sophomore Laura Donovan (Acton, MA) and freshman Rachel Figura (Cheshire, CT) each improved to 2-1 with victories at No. 2 and No. 4 respectively.

The Panthers are idle for a week before returning to the court next Friday, Sept. 18, to host defending LEC champion UMass Dartmouth (3:30 p.m.)  Bridgewater State returns home to host Suffolk in a non-conference match Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
