BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College women's tennis team dropped a key Little East Conference (LEC) match to UMass Dartmouth, 5-4, this afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts in Bridgewater.

With the win, UMass improves to 9-1 on the season and remains undefeated in Little East play with a perfect 6-0 record.  Bridgewater falls to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the LEC.

UMD has clinched at least a share of the Little East regular season title.  With a win over Salem State next Saturday and a UMass loss to Rhode Island College, BSC would also earn a share of the conference title along with UMass and RIC.

After dropping two of three doubles matches, the Corsairs rebounded by winning four of the six singles flights to come away with the win.

Sophomore Amy Lopes (Dartmouth, MA) and senior Amy Bullock (Wrentham, MA) paced the Corsairs to victory as they both won their respective singles matches and teamed up for an 8-6 win at first flight doubles.  Lopes won the battle of the top singles players with a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win. Bullock came away with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at second flight singles.

BSC was led by juniors Catarina Rosa (Fall River, MA) and Paulina Ucher (Webster, MA). Rosa won at fourth singles (6-4, 6-0) and paired up with senior Paula Araujo (Fall River, MA)for a 9-7 victory at third flight doubles. Ucher won in straight sets at fifth singles (6-1, 6-4) and teamed with sophomore Rachel Elman (Rehoboth, MA) for an 8-4 win at second flight doubles.

The Bears travel to Curry College on Thursday (3:00) before heading to Salem State next Saturday (1:00) for their regular season finale against the Lady Vikings.  UMass travels to Wentworth on Thursday for a 3:30 match with the Leopards.
