BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Bridgewater State College women's tennis team remained undefeated on the season with a convincing 9-0 victory over Little East Conference (LEC) rival Plymouth State University this afternoon from the Dr. Henry Rosen Memorial Courts in Bridgewater.

The Bears (3-0, 2-0 LEC) swept all three doubles flights and all six singles matches to come away with the win over the Panthers (1-4, 1-2 LEC).

Sophomore Rachel Elman (Rehoboth, MA) earned the top flight singles victory with a tough straight set win over Plymouth State senior Meghan Rodier (Francestown, NH).  Elman won the first set, 7-6, with a 7-0 tiebreaker, and came away with a 7-5 victory in the second set.  Elman also teamed with junior Paulina Ucher (Webster, MA) for an 8-0 win at second doubles.  Ucher breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 straight set victory in her fifth flight singles match.

Rounding out the singles winner for the Bears were junior Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, MA) at the second flight (6-3, 6-3), sophomore Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, MA) at number three (6-3, 6-0), junior Catarina Rosa (Fall River, MA) at the fourth flight (6-1, 6-3) and sophomore Danielle Linscott (Uxbridge, MA) at number six (0-6, 7-6, 10-6).

Donnelly and Francis teamed up for an 8-6 victory in the top flight doubles match, while Rosa and senior Paula Araujo (Fall River, MA) partnered for an 8-4 win at third doubles.

Bridgewater State is back in action on Saturday afternoon at 1 PM as the Bears travel to UMass Boston for a key Little East match with the Beacons.  Plymouth State hosts LEC rival Salem State on Saturday at 2.
