Women's Swimming & Diving Places Second at Little East Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team finished in second place at the 2024 Little East Conference (LEC) Swimming & Diving Championships on Sunday at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.

The Bears wrapped up the four-day championship meet with 786 points. Eastern Connecticut State University captured the conference title for first time in program history as the Warriors recorded 805 points. Keene State College rounded out the top three teams with 780 points at the tightly-contested meet.

Senior Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.) placed second in the 200 butterfly with a collegiate-best time of 2:20.01. Junior Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, South Africa) posted a collegiate-best time of 56.34 seconds to finish third in the 100 freestyle, while sophomore Julie Remson (Norwalk, Conn.) placed third in the 50 backstroke with a collegiate-best time of 28.81 seconds.

Sophomore Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) paced the Bears at the four-day championship meet with a pair of gold medals in the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions. She set school and meet records on both boards and was named the Little East Women's Diver of the Year for the second straight season. Simard will compete at the NCAA Division III Northeast/North Regional Diving Championships on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd at Colby College. She will make her second consecutive appearance at the regional diving championships.
