Simard Leads Women's Swimming & Diving During Day Two of Little East Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team competed during day two of the Little East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.

Sophomore Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) finished first in the preliminaries of the one-meter diving competition with a meet-record and 11-dive score of 440.75 points. Freshman Ava Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) was third in the one-meter preliminaries with a score of 324.20 points.

In the swimming finals on Friday evening, the Bears recorded six third-place showings.

Juniors Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.), Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.), Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.i.) and Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, South Africa) placed third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.29).

Sophomore Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished third in the 500 freestyle (5:39.08), as did junior Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.) in the 50 breaststroke (32.98), senior Jenna Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) in the 200 backstroke (2;18.52), Fiebiger in the 50 freestyle (25.90) and Matte in the 200 individual medley (2:22.43).

The Little East championship meet continues on Saturday morning with events getting underway at ten o'clock. Eastern Connecticut State University sits atop the team standings with 308 points followed by Bridgewater State in second place with 291 points and 16-time defending LEC champion Keene State College in third with 267 points.
