Simard Sets Diving Marks in Women's Swimming & Diving Senior Day Win Over Plymouth

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Sophomore Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) set a pair of diving records to lead the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team to a 209-59 Senior Day win over Little East Conference foe Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (5-6) captured top honors in all 15 events at the meet.

Simard placed first in the one-meter diving competition with a six-dive score of 316.70 points as she eclipsed her own previous BSU standard of 303.10 points set last season against Babson College. Simard then took down her own school mark on three-meter board with a six dive score of 316.45 points surpassing her previous record of 306.45 points set earler this season at the BSU Invitational.

Simard is currently ranked 15th in all of Division III on the three-meter board for a six-dive event and 25th on the one-meter.

Sophomore Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) placed first in both the 50 breaststroke (36.05) and the 100 breaststroke (1:19.10). Bradford's time in the 100 breaststroke marked a personal best.

Junior Renee Goodale (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) was the first to touch the wall in the 100 freestyle (1:01.16) as well as the 100 individual medley (1:10.70). Goodale recorded a collegiate-best time in the 100 free. She competed in the 100 IM for the first time in her career.

Junior Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.), sophomore Ava Fenton (Monument Beach, Mass.), junior Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.) and senior Jenna Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) posted career-best times and captured top honors in the 100 butterfly (1:07.92), 50 freestyle (27.98), 500 freestyle (6:09.31) and 50 butterfly (29.15), respectively.

Junior Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) placed first in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 2:14.23, while sophomore Julie Remson (Norwalk, Conn.) won the 50 backstroke (31.24) and junior Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorded the top time in the 100 backstroke (1:08.53.

Murrary, Pelletier, senior Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.) and Matte teamed up for a victory in the 200 medley relay (2:07.12). The foursome of junior Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, South Africa), Murray, Maxim and Matte closed out the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle (1:48.87).

Freshman Ava Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) posted career-best scores on both the one-meter (214.40 pts.) and three-meter (209.90 pts.) diving boards as she placed second in each event.

Prior to the meet, the Bears honored Maxim, Geoffrion and fellow senior Lily Morrison (Marshfield, Mass.) as well as team manager Madeline Goldberg (Maynard, Mass.).

The BSU swimming and diving teams are off untill the Little East Conference Championships. The four-day meet will open with the three-meter diving competition on Thursday, February 15th at Babson College. The final three days of the championship meet will take place at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
