Women’s Swimming & Diving Sweeps Tri-Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team swept a tri-meet with Regis College and Little East Conference (LEC) rival Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (2-1) edged Eastern Connecticut, 119-110, and posted a 143-80 decision over Regis.

Freshman Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) won both diving events with scores of 240.30 points on the one-meter board and 229.75 points on the three-meter plank. Simard currently ranks 15th in all of Division III on the one-meter board for a six-dive event, and 21st on the three-meter.

Junior Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:13.04, while sophomore Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.) was the first to touch the wall in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:59.11.

The BSU foursome of senior Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) and sophomores Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.), Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.) and Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) capped off the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:52.18).

The Bears will be back in the pool next Saturday (Oct. 29) when they travel to Clark University for a dual meet with the Cougars.
