Women's Swimming & Diving Battles Clark University

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team competed in a dual meet against visiting Clark University on Saturday afternoon at Moriarty Pool.

Clark captured top honors in all 13 events as the visiting Cougars (1-0) recorded the 153-70 victory. The Bears fall to 0-6 in dual meet competition on the season.

Bridgewater place second in ten of 13 events.

Sophomore Nicole Moneghan (Lincoln, R.I.) placed second in the 1,000 freestyle (12:27.18) and the 200 backstroke (2:27.33).

Sophomore Danielle Souza (Mansfield, Mass.) finished second in the 50 freestyle (27.20) and also swam on a pair of relays.

Souza, senior Mikaela Ross (Andover, Mass.), junior Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) and freshman Adi Tobias (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed second in the 200 medley relay (2:04.08).

The foursome of Souza, Grant, senior Shae Aiguier (Braintree, Mass.) and junior Rebecca Foster (Billerica, Mass.) finished second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:50.52).

Tobias also placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:33.25), while Grant added a second place showing in the 200 butterfly (2:34.81).

Junior Amanda Brennen (Waltham, Mass.) in the 200 freestyle (2:13.33), sophomore Emma Cardarelli (Waltham, Mass.) in the 500 freestyle (6:06.52) and freshman Abigail Bailey (Hanson, Mass.) in the 100 freestyle (1:00.37) rounded out the Bears' second-place performers.

The Bears are off until next Saturday when they travel to Gordon College for a one o'clock meet with the Fighting Scots.
