Women's Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet

WESTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team split a tri-meet hosted by Regis College on Saturday.

The Bears earned a 169-70 win over Husson University and dropped a 159-92 decision to the host Pride.

Senior Michaela Pereira (Rehoboth, Mass.) placed second in both the 50 freestyle (28.14) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.00).

Pereira also swam a leg on a pair of relay teams which posted second place finishes.

The Bears' 200 medley relay squad of Pereira, junior Mikaela Ross (Andover, Mass.), sophomore Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) and freshman Nicole Moneghan (Lincoln, R.I.) checked in with a time of 2:05.70.

Pereira, Grant and Moneghan along with sophomore Shae Aiguier (Braintree, Mass.) posted a time of 1:50.38 in the 200 freestyle relay.

Ross also placed second in the 50 breaststroke (37.08), while Grant finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:07.41) and Moneghan notched a second place showing in the 500 freestyle (5:49.03).

Senior Olivia Sugrue (Wrentham, Mass.) in the 50 butterfly (32.49) rounded out the Bears' second place performers.

Next Friday, the Bears will host the BSU "Last Gasp" Open Invitational.
