Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Brandeis, 159-52

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team fell to Brandeis University on Friday evening at the Moriarty Pool by a score of 159-52.

The Bears (4-8) posted eight runner-up finishes led by freshman Nicole Moneghan (Lincoln, R.I) who placed second in both the 200 freestyle (2:10.47) and the 500 freestyle (5:50.55).

Moneghan also finished second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:51.27) along with classmate Haleigh Kent (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomores Shae Aiguier (Braintree, Mass.) and Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.).

Grant, classmate Amanda Brennen (Waltham, Mass.), junior Mikaela Ross (Andover, Mass.) and senior Michaela Pereira (Rehoboth, Mass.) finished second in the 200 medley relay (2:03.81), while Grant also added a second place showing in the 100 backstroke (1:10.18).

Freshmen Kathryn Driscoll (Westwood, Mass.) and Julia Gagne (South Hadley, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' top placewinners at the meet as they finished second, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.54) and the 100 freestyle (1:01.12).

The Bears return to the pool on Sunday at noon when they entertain the Owls of Keene State College.
