Women's Swimming & Diving Posts 131-109 Win over UMass Dartmouth

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team cruised to a 131-109 victory over visiting UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday evening at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (2-2) won five individual events and both relays en route to the victory.

Sophomore Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) won both the 50 freestyle (27.65) and 100 freestyle (59.70) events. Grant also swam a leg on the Bears' first place 400 freestyle relay team (4:05.05) along with sophomore Amanda Brennen (Waltham, Mass.) and freshmen Emma Cardarelli (Waltham, Mass.) and Nicole Monaghan (Lincoln, R.I.).

Monaghan added a win in the 1,000 freestyle (11:52.68).

Freshman Laurinda Rocha (Brockton, Mass.) won both diving events, posting a scores of 219.05 points on the one-meter board and 204.15 points on the three-meter.

The Bears' foursome of seniors Michaela Pereira (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Olivia Sugrue (Wrentham, Mass.), sophomore Shae Aiguier (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Caroline Hill (Bridgewater, Mass.) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:10.41.

In upcoming action, the BSU swimming and diving teams will compete at the Louise Goodrum Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday at noon.
