Rechtiene, Loranger Lead Women's Swimming & Diving at ECSU Tri-Meet

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Senior Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Conn.) and junior Svetlana Loranger (East Freetown, Mass.) each captured individual events to lead the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team at a tri-meet hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University.

BSU split the tri-meet as the Bears edged Regis College, 137-120, but fell to the host Warriors, 145-107.

Rechtiene grabbed top honors in the 400 individual medley with season-best time of 5:09.80, while Loranger also posted a season-best time of 29.38 seconds to win the 50 butterfly.

The Bears 200 freestyle relay squad of Rechtiene, Loranger, senior Kristen Carey (East Taunton, Mass.) and junior Michaela Pereira (Rehoboth, Mass.) touched the wall first with a winning time of 1:48.72.

After a 12-day layoff, the Bears will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships on February 13, 14 & 15.
