BABSON PARK, Mass -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team evened their season dual meet record as the Bears downed Babson College, 140-94, on Thursday evening at Morse Pool.

The Bears, who improve to 4-4 on the year, defeated the hosts Beavers for the first time since the 2007-2008 campaign.  Babson slips to 1-14 in dual meet competition.

Seniors Kristen Carey (East Taunton, Mass.) and Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Conn.) paced the visitors with two individual victories apiece.

Carey captured top honors in the 1,000 freestyle, with a season-best time of 11:52.78, as well as the 500 freestyle (5:49.27).  She also swam a leg on the winning 200 medley relay squad (2:07.24) along with classmate Terry Mullen (Ashburnham, Mass.) and sophomores Sarah Biltcliffe (Fall River, Mass.) and Mikaela Ross (Andover, Mass.).

Rechtiene touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 2:08.25, and added a first-place performance in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.48).  She also capped off the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:49.72) along with junior Svetlana Loranger (East Freetown, Mass.) and freshmen Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) and Makaila Williams (Hyde Park, Mass.).

Grant was also victorious in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.82 seconds, while fellow rookie Amanda Brennen (Waltham, Mass.) won the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:00.65.
