Women's Swimming & Diving Drops 194-94 Decision to Roger Williams

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team dropped a 194-94 decision to visiting Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon in the Bears' final home meet of the season.

The Bears (3-4) received wins by freshman Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) in the 50 butterfly (29.52), junior Brooke Pacheco (Bristol, R.I.) on the one-meter diving board (215.50 pts.) and Elizabeth Lamarre (Dartmouth, Mass.) on the three-meter (213.90 pts.).

Seniors Kristen Carey (East Taunton, Mass.) and Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Vt.), junior Svetlana Loranger (East Freetown, Mass.) and sophomore Sarah Biltcliffe (Fall River, Mass.) added second places finishes for the hosts.  Carey in the 500 freestyle (5:52.17), Rechtiene in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.31), Loranger in the 50 freestyle (27.77) and Biltcliffe in the 50 breaststroke (34.12).

Prior to the meet, seniors Carey, Lamarre, Terry Mullen (Ashburnham, Mass.), Kendra Perry (Middleboro, Mass.), Rechtiene and May Sommer (Verona, WI) were honored.

The dual meet schedule continues for the Bears on Thursday, January 22nd when they travel to Babson College for a 6:00 PM meet with the Beavers.
