Women's Swimming & Diving Competes at WPI Gompei Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming and diving team competed at the WPI Gompei Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Conn.) paced the Bears as she placed ninth in the 100 breaststroke with a finals time of 1:12.23.

Freshman Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) finished 17th in the 50 butterfly with a finals time of 29.09 seconds, while sophomore Sarah Biltcliffe (Fall River, Mass.) placed 12th in the 100 breaststroke with a finals time of 1:12.57.

Junior Brooke Pacheco (Bristol, R.I.) and sophomore Mary Woodbury (Holden, Mass.) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the three-meter diving competition.  Pacheco posted a score of 319.05 points, while Woodbury recorded a score of 308.35 points.

The three-day Gompei Invitational wraps up on Sunday with preliminaries at 8:30 AM and finals at 4:30 PM.
