BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Ashley Dunican has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Swimmer of the Week.

A native of Bennington, Vermont, Dunican won four individual events this past week to help Bridgewater State post a 1-1 record in dual meets including a 138-117 victory over Western New England University.

Dunican captured first place in both the 50 backstroke (31.02) and 100 backstroke (1:07.81) events in a 158-124 setback to Clark University.  Earlier in the week, she took home top honors in the 50 backstroke (31.91) and 100 backstroke (1:09.93) in the victory over Western New England.

“Ashley is having a great start to her senior season,” noted BSU head coach Mike Caruso. “With her consistent hard work, those times will continue to get better and better.”

The 2013-2014 season continues for the BSU women’s swimming and diving team on Saturday when the Bears compete at a tri-meet along with Eastern Connecticut State University and host University of Saint Joseph.
