BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Sarah Biltcliffe has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Rookie Swimmer of the Week.

A native of Fall River, Massachusetts, Biltcliffe won three individual events and added a relay victory this past week to help Bridgewater State post a 1-1 record in dual meets.

Biltcliffe placed first in the 50 breaststroke (33.37) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.19) in a 158-124 setback to Clark University.  Earlier in the week, she was the first to touch the wall in the 50 breaststroke (33.94) and swam a leg on the Bears’ winning 200 medley relay (2:04.32) in a 138-117 victory over Western New England University.

“Sarah has been a great addition to the team this season,” noted BSU head coach Mike Caruso. “She has a tremendous amount of potential, and her hard work and effort continues to show day in and day out.”

The 2013-2014 season continues for the BSU women’s swimming and diving team on Saturday when the Bears compete at a tri-meet along with Eastern Connecticut State University and host University of Saint Joseph.
