Chelsea Nolan Garners All-NEISDA Honors

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Senior Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) earned All-NEISDA honors to lead the Bridgewater State University swimming and diving teams during day two of the 2014 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III Championships held at the University of Rhode Island.

Nolan posted a time of 11:15.41 in the 1,000 freestyle to place sixth in the event.  The top eight place-winners in each individual event and the top three relays earn All-NEISDA accolades.

Freshman Sarah Biltcliffe (Fall River, Mass.) and junior Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Conn.) placed 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke.  Biltcliffe posted a time of 1:13.16, while Rechtiene recorded a time of 1:13.19.

The Bears 200 medley relay squad of Biltcliffe, Rechtiene and seniors Ashley Dunican (Bennington, Vt.) and Nelia Borden (Westport, Mass.) finished tenth with a time of 2:01.90.

BSU's 800 freestyle relay team of Nolan, Rechtiene, Borden and junior Kendra Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) placed seventh with a time of 8:40.77.

On the men's side, senior Erick DalMolin (Springfield, Mass.) placed 17th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.85.

Juniors Sean Bruno (Easton, Mass.) and Todd Avery (Brewster, Mass.) finished 18th and 19th, respectively, in the 50 butterfly.  Bruno posted a time of 26.98 seconds, while Avery recorded a time of 27.09 seconds.

Junior David Elofson (Mansfield, Mass.) advanced to the final round of three-meter diving competition which will take place on Sunday.

The Bears 200 medley relay featuring DalMolin, Bruno, senior Charles MacDonald (Braintree, Mass.) and junior John Holmes (Norwood, Mass.) finished 11th in the event with a time of 1:47.08.

Through 32 events, the BSU women's team is in tenth place in the standings with a score of 271 points.  The Bears' men's squad is in 11th place with 58 points.

The three-day NEISDA Championship meet concludes on Sunday.
