Women's Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team split a tri-meet with Eastern Connecticut State University and host University of Saint Joseph.

The Bears posted a 114-72 victory over Saint Joseph and dropped a 128-51 decision to Eastern Connecticut. Bridgewater is now 4-4 in dual meet on the season while the Warriors improve to 3-0.  The host Blue Jays slipped to 0-4 as they also fell to Eastern Connecticut by a score of 132-54.

Junior Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Conn.) paced the Bears as she just missed her own school record in the 200 breaststroke by two seconds.  Rechtiene posted a time of 2:37.09 to place second in the event.

Senior Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) posted season-best times in both the 1,000 freestyle (11:35.03) and 500 freestyle (5:49.25).  Nolan finished second in each of the two events.

Senior Ariel Gillis (Blackstone, Mass.)  recorded a season-best time in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:13.95. Gillis place fourth in the event.

The Bears will be back in the water on Tuesday, December 3rd when they host a dual meet against Gordon College at 6:00 PM.
