Swimming & Diving Teams Compete at Keene State Tri-Meet

KEENE, N.H. – The Bridgewater State University swimming and diving teams competed at a tri-meet hosted by Keene State College on Saturday.

The BSU women's team lost by a final tally of 220-57 to host Keene, and dropped a 224-65 decision to Roger Williams University.

Senior Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) placed fourth in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:53.72.  Sophomore Joanna Perron (Lowell, Mass.) earned a third-place showing on the one-meter diving board with a score of 130.55 points.

Senior Nelia Borden (Westport, Mass.) finished fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:11.01) and sixth in the 100 freestyle (59.47), while junior Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Mass.) placed seventh in both the 100 breaststroke (1:15.50) and 200 breaststroke (2:42.83).

On the men's side, the Bears lost by a score of 254-38 to Keene, and suffered a 212-63 setback to Roger Williams.

Junior David Elofson (Mansfield, Mass.) pace the BSU men's squad with a pair of fifth-place finishes in the diving events.  Elofson posted a score of 146.55 points on the one-meter board and 136.70 points on the three-meter plank.

Junior John Holmes (Norwood, Mass.) recorded a sixth place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.04 seconds.   Holmes also posted a solid time on the first leg of the 200 freestyle relay as the Bears finished sixth with a time of 1:37.53.

The Keene State men's team was ranked 15th in the latest NCAA Division III rankings, while the KSC women's team was just outside the top 25.

Next Saturday afternoon, the BSU swimming and diving teams host a dual meet against regional foe Regis College beginning at two.
