Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Roger Williams, 127-97

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Bridgewater State University women's swimming and diving team lost to host Roger Williams University by a score of 127-97 on Saturday afternoon.

The host Hawks began the day by taking the top two spots in the 400 Medley Relay for an early 15-2 lead and would not look back .  RWU would also claim the top three times in the 200 freestyle behind Alana Mercurio (2:07.29), Erin Carlson (2:10.42), and Sarah Mamula (2:11.89).

Kristen Grandonico (Portland, Maine) won both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle with times of 25.89 and 57.27, respectively.

BSU sophomore Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) led the way for the Bears as she won the 1,000 freestyle race with a time of 11:49.00.  She also posted a second place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:43.20).

Freshman Taylor Brochu (Cotuit, Mass.) added a second place showing in the 50 freestyle (27.43) while classmate Christina Minich (Wellesley, Mass.) recorded the second best score on the one-meter diving board with 174.60 points.

The Bears are off until Saturday, December 3rd when they compete at the Little East Conference Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
