Women's Swimming in 16th Place at NEISDA Championships

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swim team is in 16th place in a 22-team field after the second day of action at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III Championships held at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vermont.

The Bears have tallied 120 points over the first two days of events. Bentley University is in first place in the women's team standings with 1,002 points followed by Keene State College with 808.5.  The championship meet will conclude on Sunday.

Two relay teams and a pair of individual event swimmer were in Saturday evening's finals.

The 200 medley relay team of junior Lauren Gale (Norwich, CT), sophomores Loren Phinney (Holbrook, MA) and Rhiannon White (Falmouth, MA), and freshman Ariel Gillis (Blackstone, MA) placed 19th in the event with a time of 2:06.78.  The 800 freestyle relay team consisting of Phinney, White, junior Caroline McMillan (Whitman, MA) and sophomore Bridget Hasson (Milton, MA) finished in 15th place with a time of 8:45.80.

In the individual events, Phinney posted a 17th place time in the 100 backstroke (1:04.27), while White was 22nd in the 400 individaul medley (5:13.94).
