Phinney Leads Women's Swimming in 161-110 Loss to WPI

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --The WPI women's swimming and diving team posted a 161-110 victory over host Bridgewater State University on Senior Day at the Mary Jo Moriarty pool in Bridgewater.

Bridgewater ends the dual meet portion of the season with a record of 1-13, while WPI finishes at 5-4.

Sophomore Loren Phinney (Holbrook, Mass.) paced the host Bears with three individual victories in the 100 backstroke (1:06.74), 200 backstroke (2:22.89) and 500 freestyle (5:50.54).

Sophomore Emily Colpas (Holden, Mass.) and freshman Kelin Song (Providence, R.I.) each won a pair of events for WPI.  Colpas in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.85) and 200 breaststroke (2:54.93), and Song in the 50 freestyle (:27.29) and 100 freestyle (:59.25).

Prior to the meet, the Bears honored senior Julianne Hutchins (West Boylston, Mass.) who was competing in her final home meet.

Bridgewater will compete in the NEISDA Division II/III Swimming Championships at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vermont on February 18, 19 and 20.  WPI will compete in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at Mount Holyoke College on February 18, 19 and 20.
