Former standout goalkeeper Lauren DeSousa was named to the Bridgewater State women's coaching staff in the summer of 2022 and serves as the goalkeeper coach. Lauren earned a Bachelor of Social Work from BSU in 2018 and a Master of Social Work in 2021.

In 56 games over three seasons between the pipes for the BSU women's soccer team from 2015 to 2017, DeSousa posted a career 0.89 goals against average with 294 saves, a .852 save percentage, 29 wins and 24 shutouts. She is the Bears' all-time leader in goals against average and shutouts, and is also second all-time in wins and third in both games played and minutes played (5135:43).

A three-time All-MASCAC selection, Lauren was selected as the MASCAC Player of the Year during her junior season of 2016. She set the Bears' single-season record with 10.5 shutouts and posted an impressive 0.60 goals against average.

Prior to coaching at Bridgewater State, Lauren served as the goalkeeper coach at Curry College from 2019 to 2021. She also serves as the regional goalkeeper coach for FC Stars of Massachusetts, a position she has held since 2018.

A native of Taunton, Massachusetts, Lauren is presently a school adjustment counselor at Joseph H. Martin Middle School in Taunton. She is also the director of youth services at Raising Multicultural Kids out of Easton.
