Emma Sanders Named MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore midfielder Emma Sanders has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

Sanders notched four goals and an assist for nine points in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears last week. The Seekonk, Massachusetts product scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 2-0 non-conference victory over Keene State College. The win marked the first over the Owls in program history. Sanders also found the back of the net twice and added an assist in a 7-0 MASCAC win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

In 14 games this season, Sanders has recorded eight goals and three assists for 19 points. She is tied with senior forward Courtney Pepin (Uxbridge, Mass.) for the team lead in both goals and scoring. Sanders is also tied for third in the MASCAC in goals and tied for fourth in points.

Sanders is the third Bridgewater State women's soccer player to earn the honor this season as she joins Pepin and classmate Alana Vincent (Taunton, Mass.).

The BSU women’s soccer team is currently 10-5 on the season and tied atop the MASCAC standings with a 5-1 conference mark. The Bears travel to UMass Boston on Tuesday night (7:00 PM) for a non-conference game with the Beacons, and then wrap up regular season play on Saturday afternoon (1:00 PM) at home against MASCAC foe MCLA.
