2016 All-MASCAC Women's Soccer Team (PDF)

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior goalkeeper Lauren DeSousa (Taunton, Mass.) has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Year to highlight the Bears' four representatives on the 2016 All-MASCAC Women's Soccer Team.

Joining DeSousa on the All-MASCAC First Team from Bridgewater State is freshman forward Alana Vincent (Taunton, Mass.). Senior midfielder Drew Guay (Fall River, Mass.) and junior forward Courtney Pepin (Uxbridge, Mass.) garnered All-MASCAC Second Team honors.

DeSousa and Pepin are both making their second appearance on the All-MASCAC Team. DeSousa earned second team accolades a year ago, while Pepin was named to the second team as a freshman in 2014.

DeSousa has played and started all 17 games between the pipes this season. She is currently 7-5-5 with a school record 10 ½ shutouts to go along with a 0.50 goals against average, 83 saves and a .902 save percentage. DeSousa leads the MASCAC in shutouts, goals against average and save percentage. She also ranks second in the conference in minutes played (1610:15) and is third in wins.

In 35 games over her first two seasons at Bridgewater State, DeSousa is 17-12-6 with 17 ½ shutouts to go along with a 0.81 goals against average, 179 saves and a .861 save percentage. She is second only to BSU Hall of Famer Tracey Ullathorne in career shutouts. Ullathorne recorded 21 ½ from 1992 to 1995.

Vincent has put together a terrific rookie campaign as she leads the team with six goals and 13 points in 17 games. Two of her six goals have been game-winners. Vincent is currently tied for third in the MASCAC in goals and tied for fifth in scoring.

In 57 games over four season with the Bears, Guay has two goals and three assists for seven career points. Both of her goals have been game-winners. Guay has appeared in all 17 games this season with 16 starts.

Pepin, who has started all 17 games this season, leads the team and is for third in the MASCAC with four assists. In 55 games over her first three seasons with the Bears, Pepin has produced nine goals (three game-winners) and ten assists for 28 career points.

The BSU women's soccer team is currently 7-5-5 on the season. Seeded third in the MASCAC Tournament with a 4-1-2 conference mark, the Bears knocked off sixth-seeded Fitchburg State University earlier this week in the quarterfinals, 1-0, to advance to the semifinal round. Bridgewater takes on #2 seed Westfield State University on Friday night at seven.

Notes: DeSousa is the Bears' first MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year since Kaitlin Lamothe earned the honor in 2008....BSU Hall of Famer Kimberly Rhodes garned MASCAC Player of the Year accolades three straight seasons from 2001 to 2003.
