BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – Four different players scored as the Bridgewater State University women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory over host Massachusetts Maritime Academy in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) contest on Friday night at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Junior midfielder Amanda Leite (New Bedford, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist to lead the Bears who improve to 5-3 on the season and 2-0 in the MASCAC with their fifth straight shutout. The Buccaneers slip to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Bears used a pair of goals off set pieces by senior midfielder Brooke Pacheco (Bristol, R.I.) and Leite in the 19th and 22nd minutes of play to take a 2-0 advantage. For Pacheco, the goal marked the first of her career.

Senior forward Marissa Yowell (Ashland, Mass.) extended that margin to 3-0 with 3:21 remaining in the opening half by converting a breakaway for her team-leading fourth tally of the fall.  Freshman midfielder Caitlin Rowley (Lakeville, Mass.) collected the final marker for Bridgewater State in the 72nd minute, as she converted a feed from freshman forward Taylor Loyd (Bridgewater, Mass.) for her third goal of the season.

Leite and junior midfielder Allyson Pontes (Dartmouth, Mass.) earned assists off the respective corner kick goals for the Bears, while senior defender Carolyn Sessler (Plymouth, Mass.) set up Yowell's tally.

Sophomore goaltender Lauren DeSousa (Taunton, Mass.) was forced to make just one save as the Bears limited the Buccaneers to just two shots and only one on frame. DeSousa extended her shutout streak to five games as she has not allowed a goal over the last 455 minutes.

Senior netminder Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made six stops in the setback for the host Buccaneers.  The Bears outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 13-2 margin overall (10-1 on goal) and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday evening for a seven o'clock game with the Corsairs, while the Buccaneers host Fisher College on Tuesday night at seven.
