BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore defender MaryRose Griffin (Whitman, Mass.) earned first team honors to highlight the Bears' three selections to the 2013 MASCAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Team.

Joining Griffin for the Bears on the All-MASCAC Team are second team selections senior midfielder Katie Nasuti (Millbury, Mass.) and sophomore forward Mackenzie Hatfield (Whitman, Mass.).  Griffin and Hatfield are both making their second straight appearance on the all-conference team with Griffin earning back-to-back first team honors.

The anchor of the BSU defense, Griffin has started 16 games this year (missed one due to injury) and 37 over her first two seasons at Bridgewater.  The Bears’ defense has posted four shutouts and a 1.67 goals against average so far in 2013 and limited opponents to an average of just 5.9 shots on goal per game.  Griffin has scored a pair of goals and helped the Bears record 13 shutouts over her first two seasons with the team.

Nasuti, who is making her first appearance on the All-MASCAC Team, has posted two goals and three assists for seven points in 15 games this year.  She has appeared in 70 games and made 67 starts over four seasons at Bridgewater with eight career goals and three assists for 19 points.

Hatfield has started all 17 games in 2013.  She ranks second in the MASCAC in assists with eight and is seventh in scoring with 22 points. Hatfield is also tied for ninth in the conference in goals with seven.  In 38 games (all starts) over her first two seasons, Hatfield has amassed 15 goals and 15 assists for 45 points.  Her eight goals in 2012 were the most in a season for a Bridgewater State freshman since Michelle Rhodes notched ten in 2001.

The BSU women's soccer team is currently 7-8-2 on the year.  The Bears, who completed the regular season with a 3-2-2 conference mark, shut out MCLA by a score of 1-0 in the opening round of the MASCAC Tournament on Tuesday afternoon to advance to the tournament semifinals.  Third-seeded Bridgewater will travel to second-seeded Westfield State on Friday night (7:00 PM) with the winner advancing to Sunday’s MASCAC Championship Game.
