Erica Jonasson Named MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior forward Erica Jonasson has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

Jonasson notched four goals for eight points in a 1-0-1 week for the Bears last week. The Wrentham, Massachusetts native scored twice, including the game-winner, in a 4-1 non-conference victory over Rhode Island College.  She then tallied a pair of markers, including the game-tying goal, in a 2-2 double overtime tie with MASCAC foe Framingham State University.

In five games this season, Jonasson has five goals and an assist to her credit for 11 points. She is tied for second among the MASCAC women's soccer leaders in goals and tied for third in scoring.

In 44 games over three seasons of collegiate soccer, Jonasson has amassed 22 goals and eight assists for 52 points.  Five of her 22 markers have been game-winners.  Jonasson transferred to Bridgewater State from UMass Dartmouth where she posted 12 goals and a pair of assists for 26 points as a rookie in 2011.

The Bridgewater State women’s soccer team is currently 2-2-1 on the season with a 0-0-1 mark in MASCAC play. The Bears have three games this week starting with a non-conference match with Salve Regina University at Swenson Field on Tuesday night at seven.
