Mackenzie Hatfield Named MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Mackenzie Hatfield has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

Hatfield was named the MVP of the 2013 MASCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament as she notched six points on two goals and two assists in leading the Bears to the tournament title.  The Whitman, Massachusetts native tallied a goal and an assist in Bridgewater’s 3-2 double overtime semifinal victory over Westfield State, and added a goal and an assist in BSU’s 3-1 championship game win over Worcester State.

Through 19 games this season, Hatfield has nine goals and ten assists for 28 points.  She is second among the MASCAC leaders in assists, ranks sixth in scoring and is tied for seventh in goals.

In 40 games over her first two seasons with the Bears, Hatfield has amassed 17 goals and 17 assists for 51 points.  She presently ranks eighth all-time at BSU in scoring.

The BSU women’s soccer team is currently 9-8-2 on the season.  By virtue of their MASCAC Tournament title, the Bears will be making the program’s third appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament and first since 2003.  Bridgewater will take on Middlebury College in first round play on Saturday morning at 11 in Middlebury, Vermont.
