Mackenzie Hatfield Named MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Mackenzie Hatfield has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

Hatfield notched four goals and two assists for ten points in a 2-1 week for the Bears which included a 2-1 MASCAC win over two-time defending conference champion Westfield State University and a 5-1 victory over non-conference foe Salve Regina University

The Whitman, Massachusetts native tallied a career-high six points on two goals and two assists in the Bears' victory over the Seahawks and scored a goal in a setback to Roger Williams University.  Hatfield capped off the week by extending her point-scoring streak to four games with a marker in BSU's MASCAC win over the Owls.

Through eight games this season, Hatfield has totaled four goals and four assists for 12 points.   She is tied for second in the MASCAC in assists, tied for sixth in goals and ranks sixth in the conference in scoring.

In 29 games over two seasons with the Bears, Hatfield has amassed 12 goals and 11 assists for 35 points.

The BSU women's soccer team is currently 4-3-1 on the season with a 1-0-1 mark in MASCAC play.  The Bears are tied for second in the conference standings along with Framingham State University.

The award marks the second straight for the Bears' as junior teammate Erica Jonasson (Wrentham, Mass.) earned MASCAC Player of the Week honors a week ago.
