Women's Soccer Blanks UMass Dartmouth, 3-0

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Visiting Bridgewater State scored twice within a span of 9:24 in the second half and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team, 3-0,  in a non-conference match at Cressy Field Tuesday evening.

Junior midfielder Kristina Ortiz (Dedham, MA) gave the Bears a 1-0 lead when she picked up a loose ball and scored in the 15th minute. Senior midfielder Jacklyn Wisocky (Brockton, MA) made it 2-0 when she scored on a 30-yard shot in the 55th minute, and senior midfielder Christine Soucy (Rockland, MA) scored the final goal of the game in the 64th minute.

The Bears out shot the Corsairs, 14-9. Junior goalkeeper Kayla Grover (Haverhill, MA) made eight saves to record her first shutout of the season for BSC.  UMass junior Tanya Braga (Hudson, MA) made six saves in goal for the Corsairs.

UMass Dartmouth dropped to 4-7-1 with the defeat, while Bridgewater State improved to 4-5-1 with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action on Saturday when they host Keene State College. The Bears will host MASCAC rival Worcester State also on Saturday.
