Men's Cross Country Places 18th at NEICAAA Championships, 12th at James Earley Invitational

DORCHESTER, Mass. – Senior Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) placed ninth out of a field of 170 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held on Saturday at Franklin Park.

Wysong covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:59.4 Mutai Ezra of Division II AIC won the men's race with a time of 24:16.2.

Senior Mike Hutchinson (Leominster, Mass.) was next across the line for the Bears as he placed 98th overall with a time of 26:40.7. Hutchinson was followed by fellow senior Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) in 107th place (26:49.9).

The Bears finished 18th in the team standings. Division I Providence College captured the team title followed by Northeastern in second place and UMass Amherst in third.

Several members of the BSU men's cross country team competed at the James Earley Invitational held at Stanley Park in Westfield also on Saturday.

Senior Joseph Celia (Bridgewater, Mass.) was the Bears' top finisher as he covered the eight-kilometer layout in a time of 27:41.06 to place 43rd overall out of the field of 206 harriers. Senior Weyessa McAlister of Trinity College won the race with a time of 25:42.60.

Freshman Ryan Goldman (Franklin, Mass.) was next across the line for the Bears as he placed 64th overall with a time of 28:23.98. Goldman was followed by Junior Ryan Glynn (Abington, Mass.) in 68th place (28:28.19).

The Bears finished 12th in the team standings. Trinity College captured the team title followed by Westfield State in second place and Springfield College in third.

Next weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Western New England Invitational in Springfield.
