Wysong Leads Men's Cross Country at MASCAC Championships

LEOMINSTER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's cross country team placed third at the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Cross Country Championships held on Saturday at Doyle Community Park in Leominster.

BSU freshman Trevor Wysong (Milford, Mass.) garnered MASCAC Rookie of the Year and All-Conference honors as he placed fourth overall. Wysong covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 26:33 as he was the top rookie harrier at the meet.

Sophomore Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) was next across the line for Bridgewater State as he placed eighth with a time of 26:41. Keough also earned All-MASCAC accolades.

Westfield State University (34 pts.) captured the team title followed by Fitchburg State University (50 pts.) and Bridgewater State (62 pts.) in the final team standings.

Junior Jake Hastings (Phillipston, Mass.) of Fitchburg State won the individual title with a time of 26:02.

Following a week off, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the New England Division III Championships hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park.
