Wysong Leads Men's Cross Country at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Freshman Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) placed 50th out of a field of 432 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday at Stanley Park.

The Bears placed 23rd overall in the team standings. Brandeis University captured the team title followed by Tufts University in second place and Norwich University in third.

Wysong covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 27:00.24. Damon Kilgore of Gordon College checked in with the winning time of 25:10.57.

Classmate Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the finish line. Higgins posted a time of 27:56.49 to finish 111th overall. Junior Zachary Viera (Fairhaven, Mass.) capped off BSU's top three runners with a time of 28:14.98. Viera placed 132nd.

Next weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Conn. College Invitational held at Harkness State Park in Waterford, Connecticut.
