Men's Cross Country Competes at New England Regionals

WATERFORD, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University men's cross country team competed at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Cross Country Championships hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park.

The Bears placed 22nd overall in the team standings.

Junior Justin Lucier (Attleboro, Mass.) was the Bears top harrier at the meet as he covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 27:01.6 to finish 123rd overall. Senior Mark Waller (Andover, Mass) recorded a time of 27:08.8 (132nd place), while freshman Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) crossed the line in 27:15.7 (137th place) to round out BSU's top three runners.

Sophomore Mohamed Hussein of Amherst College won the individual championship with a time of 24:39.8.

Williams College captured the team title while Amherst, Tufts University, Wesleyan University, MIT and Middlebury College rounded out the top six. Williams and Amherst automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship.

Tufts, Wesleyan, MIT and Middlebury are among those that will be competing for at large bids to the NCAA Division III Championships. In total, 16 teams nationwide will qualify at the discretion of the USTFCCCA selection committee. Each region is limited to a maximum of six teams.
