Men's Cross Country Competes at ECAC Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Members of the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team competed at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Williams College at the Mount Greylock High School course on Saturday.

Sophomore Michael Sanpietro (South Easton, Mass.) was the Bears' top runner as he completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 30:56.2 to finish 182nd overall out of a field of 278 harriers. Sophomore Liam Simpson of host Williams captured the individual title with a time of 26:24.2.

Sophomore Johnathan Nop (Lynn, Mass.) was next across the line for BSU as he posted a time of 32:05.7 (216th place). Freshman Michael Stuart (Andover, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' top three runners as he recorded a time of 32:08.5 (217th place).

Bridgewater State finished 38th in the team standings. Amherst College captured the team title followed by host Williams in second place and Middlebury College in the third spot.

Next Weekend, the Bears compete at the New England Division III Championships hosted by Connecticut College.
