Andy Sukeforth to Compete at NCAA Cross Country Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Andy Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) will compete at the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 22nd.

Sukeforth is one of 280 runners, including 49 from the New England region, competing at the national championship meet which will be held at The Golf Center at King's Island in Mason, Ohio.  Wilmington College is the host school and the meet is slated to get underway at 11:00 AM.

Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in the championship meet.  The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 16 teams.  Sixteen additional teams were selected at-large.

Fifty-six individuals, the first seven athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were also selected to participate.

Sukeforth is the first BSU men's harrier to compete at the national championships since Stephen Wahome in 2011, and just the third in the last ten years (Avery Bouchard, 2008).

On Saturday, Sukeforth earned All-New England honors at the Division III New England Cross Country Championships as he placed 30th out of a field of 373 runners with a time of 26:14.2.
