Sukeforth Captures Individual Title at MASCAC Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Senior Andy Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) captured the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) individual title and placed second in the Alliance results to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships held on Saturday at the Mount Greylock High School course in Williamstown.

The Bears placed second in the MASCAC team standings behind conference champion Westfield State University, and finished third in the Alliance results trailing first place Keene State College and runner-up Westfield.

Sukeforth covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 26:30.23 to lead all MASCAC runners.  Lee Cattanach of Eastern Connecticut State University set the pace in the Alliance results with a first place time of 26:24.44.

Sophomore Luke Devin (Westwood, Mass.) was next across the line for the Bears as he placed fifth in the MASCAC and ninth in the Alliance with a time of 27:23.85.  Junior Mark Waller (Andover, Mass.) finished 11th among MASCAC harriers and 23rd in the Alliance with a time of 28:00.91.

Sukeforth and Devin both earned All-MASCAC and All-New England Alliance accolades.

Next Saturday, the BSU cross country teams compete at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Westfield State University.
