Sukeforth Leads Men's Cross Country at UMD Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Senior Andrew Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) placed fifth to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.

The Bears placed 19th overall in the team standings.  Franklin Pierce captured the team title followed by WPI in second place and Brandeis University in third.

Sukeforth covered the five-mile layout in a time of 25:10.29.  He was 22 seconds off the winning time of 24:48.30 recorded by BJ Smith of Franklin Pierce.

Senior captain John Breault (South Dartmouth, Mass.) was the next Bears to cross the line. Breault posted a time of 27:38.00 to finish 109th overall.  Freshman Jason Vieira (New Beford, Mass.) capped off BSU's top three runners with a time of 28:28.67.  Vieira placed 146th.

Next weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Codfish Bowl Invitational hosted by UMass Boston.
