MANSFIELD, Conn. -- Led by meet champion Dallas O'Brien (Mansfield, Mass.), the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team defeated Eastern Connecticut State University, 29-30, in a dual meet held at Mansfield Hollow State Park in Mansfield, Connecticut.

O'Brien, a junior, covered the 4.2-mile course in a time of 24:05.  Sophomore Mark Waller (Andover, Mass.) and freshman Ben DiNobile (East Greenwich, R.I.) finished in second and third place, respectively, for the Bears.  Waller posted a time of 24:50, while DiNobile completed the race with a time of 25.04.

Freshman Andrew Single (Walpole, Mass.) placed 11th (26:30), sophomore John Whittemore (Canton, Mass.) crossed the line in 13th place (27:22), while junior Mike Gillis (Norton, Mass.) finished 15th overall (29:21) to round out the BSU harriers.

Next Saturday, the Bears' cross country teams will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
