Men’s Indoor Track & Field Records Five All-New England Performances at DIII New Englands

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Jacob DeAndrade (Taunton, Mass.) garnered All-New England honors in two events to lead the Bridgewater State University men's track & field team at the 2019 Division III New England Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday at MIT.

DeAndrade placed sixth in the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 7.06 seconds. He also recorded a career-best time of 7.04 seconds in the preliminaries. DeAndrade added an eighth-place showing in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.75 seconds.

Sophomores Joshua Moore (Cape May, N.J.) and DeAndre Thomas (Montgomery, N.J.) also earned All-New England accolades for the Bears. Moore placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 21 feet, ten inches (6.65m), while Thomas finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 11.75 inches (13.71m).

The foursome of sophomore John Lara (South Boston, Mass.) and juniors Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.), Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) and Olivier Ndikumana (Amherst, Mass.) placed eighth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:28.10 to round out the Bears' All-New England performers.

Bridgewater State finished 14th in the team standings with 15 points.

On Sunday, junior Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) will toss the weight throw at the BU Last Chance Invitational. Then next weekend, select members of the BSU men's track & field team will compete at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet.
